South Side Local Development Company
South Side Local Development Company (South Side LDC) was formed in 1982 with a mission of historic preservation and economic revitalization. Today, the South Side LDC has moved away from real estate investment and provides the following services: a two person street cleaning crew that cleans East Carson Street seven days a week, more than $100,000 per year in public space improvements, community marketing and promotions including the Historic South Side Home Tour and South Side Soup Contest, as well as technical assistance in community development and historic preservation. Because the South Side LDC has achieved its real estate-inspired mission of neighborhood revitalization, it will be closing its doors in June 2012. Volunteer opportunities.

A liaison between residents and local government, SSSNA is dedicated to providing a unified voice for Slopes residents in the areas of public safety, neighborhood beautification, community outreach, public works improvements, and housing.

South Side GREEN N'at

This is a volunteer group that meets seasonally to green the South Side neighborhood. Planting trees, cleaning up overgrown areas and painting stoops are just a few of their projects. Please visit their site and download the application to have your stoop painted for free!

South Side Tree Project

We want to plant as many healthy trees as possible on the South Side and watch them grow. Like the trees we plant, we expect to start small with manageable planting projects and then branch out... It is going to take sustained efforts to make sure that as the months go by, more and more trees get planted throughout the South Side. We need you to volunteer your time, talents and donate to this important project and opportunity to plant trees now that will grow for years to come.

The Brashear Association
The Brashear Association is South Side’s oldest community service organization. Founded as a settlement house in 1917, today, The Brashear Association provides human services to residents of several South Pittsburgh neighborhoods. The agency also has been active in developing residential leadership in neighborhood revitalization activities.

Birmingham Foundation
Birmingham Foundation is an independent community-focused foundation dedicated to health-related and human services grantmaking in South Pittsburgh. Founded in 1996 with assets from the sale of South Side Hospital, the Foundation funds programs and services that promote quality of life, build on community strengths, focus on vulnerable and underserved populations (such as seniors, youth, and the working poor), and have realistic outcomes.

Friends of Carnegie Library, South Side
The Friends of Carnegie Library, South Side was organized in 1982. The Friends sponsor fundraisers that benefit the South Side branch.
